i’m thankful to have her too. and it seasons like now, she carry’s me too. sisters are the greatest gifts.
she grew up feeling in my “shadow”, i was extroverted and desperately trying to entertain to keep the peace in our home. she was introverted and self reserved. at school she was known as “krissy’s sister” instead of “hannah” and that’s because i was a senior and she was a freshman and i did theater.
for her to finally have visibility in life, and in our family … 😮💨 yet, visibility is the bare minimum.
any opportunity i get to be the one holding the spotlight on her, i am gonna take it!
i’m so sorry Moorea. you deserve better. don’t make yourself smaller or hide who you are for them! they can stand to be uncomfortable when you’ve been masking for so long. 🖤
Beautiful poem, I'm so glad your sister told two people that day.
me too, could you imagine? ❤️🩹
I could feel the immensity of this moment on my tongue and my lips and in the changing swell in my chest. Powerful work. Thank you.
thank you so much for this comment. detailed responses like these mean so much to me. 🖤
I'm so sorry for what happened to your sister, but thank goodness she had you ❤️
Btw,
"and big sisters can only hope
to shine enough light through the storm
to witness the colors of
her magic"
is FANTASITC 🔥

Perfect painting chosen for this poem!
"little sisters are like rainbows
and big sisters can only hope
to shine enough light through the storm
to witness the colors of
her magic"
This is so beautiful. My family's response to my coming out (decades ago) has basically been, "That's fine, but let's never talk about it again."

Oh, I haven’t been hiding who I am or masking. They just kind of treat me like a black sheep.
Your sister is lucky to have a sister who sees her as a whole person. Happy pride!
